Class Info
Classes are for your child and you
Your child will have the opportunity to hear, sing, speak and play games - all in Spanish and in a fun environment. You will learn alongside them.

This is a winning combination, as you will be able to support your child’s learning outside of the classes and practise the content together at home with confidence. You’ll have sheets we use in class, video links to songs, and there will be a chance each class for you to ask me questions. And of course, you can ask questions during/ after the class. So, get ready to become an expert in Spanish animals and the noises they make and sing some real Spanish children’s songs.
Please note: No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary to enjoy and make the most of the classes. It is essential that parents / carers attend the classes and they are encouraged to take an active role in the classes.
“The more I think about your classes, the more I think there is so much value in them. It’s such a lovely time to spend with your child and learn a language together.” Emma, Ickleton
Using Spanish as much as possible

I’m a firm believer that children (and adults) should be exposed to as much Spanish as possible and it is incredible what you can convey and teach with careful planning.
I use whole Spanish sentences/ phrases, not just lists of vocab/ isolated words, so that everyone hears words used in context. Images, carefully chosen instructions, routines and lots of repetition are all key. Use of English will be limited; though will be used if required. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary to enjoy and make the most of the classes.
“I can’t believe you taught them almost all in Spanish and they followed what you said.” Emily, Ickleton
Is my child too young to learn another language?
You can never be too young to start learning a language. My own experience of learning Norwegian as a toddler and seeing my own preschooler picking up Spanish so enthusiastically and easily fully support this.
So far the children who have attended my classes have been aged from 20 months to 5 ½ years. I was thrilled when my friend’s 2-year-old came out with one of the Spanish songs I’ve taught the class, when she has only been to one class.
How long is a class?
Classes will be approximately 35 minutes (including a quiet activity during which I can circulate and offer some 1:1 feedback). I will also be available for a short period at the end of each class to answer questions.
To get maximum benefit from the classes, it is important for you and your child to practise Spanish outside of the classes: sing a song from the class together; watch a clip of one of the songs from that week; talk about what you remember from the class; play “Simón dice” (Simon says..).
That way you will both gain confidence much more quickly and have something new and fun to do with your child at home. Scientific research shows that regular, short chunks (30 minutes) of language learning is best for long-term progress.
